We’re getting closer and closer, fingers crossed, to being able to see live music again... and what a special day that’s going to be!

But for now, we would like to take you back in time to another very special day; the first day of Drive Live 2020, PBS’s very own in-studio mini-music-festival. It was a hot February afternoon when around 150 PBS members dropped in to the station to see three of Melbourne’s most captivating live acts. Opening the event was the ever-energetic foursome, Big Yawn, who brought in their unique brand of experimental electronica, and headlining the night was the mighty techno duo, Sleep D.

In between Big Yawn and Sleep D, Danika Smith simmered things down and played an exquisite set that brought a frisson of excitement to the audience, and it was undoubtedly one of the greatest highlights of Drive Live. Supported by a full choir, Danika delivered four haunting songs, two of which were stripped back versions of recently released songs, 'Sweet Mellow D', which came out in October 2020, and the super fresh ‘If You Call My Name’. Both songs are but a taste of Danika's anticipated upcoming debut album. But until that’s released, and while we wait for live gigs to happen again, a revisit to Danika's wonderful Drive Live performance is in order.

Tune in to Headhunters on Monday October 11 to experience this intoxicating live set from Danika Smith & Choir.
