Wed 14 Mar 2012 to Sun 25 Mar 2012

Of the many languages heard on the streets of Brunswick, there is one that everyone understands. For 10 days the lingua franca of Sydney Road and its surrounds will be heard throughout the venues that play host to the musicians at the 2012 Brunswick Music Festival.

The Festival is a tour of the world’s music styles as we welcome artists from France, the US, Ireland, Chile, Australia and Greece. An intriguing line up of genre crossing, innovative, legendary, established and emerging singers and musicians will perform in the acoustically brilliant Brunswick Town Hall, the Lomond Hotel, the Mechanics Institute and, our new venue, the Phoenix Public House.

Kicked off by the Sydney Road Street Party on the 4th March, the music program starts on the 14th March and tickets will go fast with the return of Brunswick favourites and some hot acts including must see artists KRYSTLE WARREN and the PETER ROWAN BLUEGRASS BAND (US).

Highlights aplenty in a program that is as musically diverse as Brunswick is culturally, they include: ABIGAIL WASHBURN (US), BEN SOLLEE (US), BEOGA (Ire), PIERRE BENSUSAN (France), APRIL VERCH BAND (CAN), BATTLEFIELD BAND (SCO), CHRIS WHILE and JULIE MATTHEWS (UK), NANO STERN (Chile), THE FOTIS VERGOPOULOS BAND WITH POLYXENI, MIKE COOPER, MARK SEYMOUR, ARCHIE ROACH, LOU BENNETT, JEFF LANG, KRISTINA OLSEN, TINPAN ORANGE, LITTLE STEVIES, HAT FITZ & CARA, MY FRIEND THE CHOCOLATE CAKE (AUSTRALIA) AND MANY MORE.
The full program is available now online.

Brunswick not only presents the finest music, it encourages and fosters new talent through performance and, this year, with a series of workshops focusing on the music side of music making and the business side. “Music Victoria in partnership with the festival is presenting 2 workshops to support and inform younger musicians who are starting out and for more established artists to fine tune some skills. We’re delighted to have them in the program.” John McAuslan, Festival Director.
