by Alabama Shakes

Boys & Girls, the hypnotic, show-stopping debut album from Alabama Shakes, is out now via Rough Trade / Remote Control.

Comprising vocalist/guitarist Brittany Howard, guitarist Heath Fogg, drummer Steve Johnson and bassist Zac Cockrell, as well as Ben Tanner who assists on keyboards, Alabama Shakes began playing together in high school. Their debut album Boys & Girls was recorded at The Bomb Shelter in Nashville, USA. Produced and mixed by the band members, the album is a vibrant fusion of swampy dirty south-rock, blues and soul delivered with punk rock fervor.

Alabama Shakes have taken the world by storm with their recent performances at SXSW in Austin, Texas. Performing to sold out crowds and receiving standing ovations over multiple nights, Alabama Shakes have made their mark as a major new rock and roll band, with everyone from the Los Angeles Times to Rolling Stone USA praising their talents.

The release of Boys & Girls marks the arrival of a major new rock and roll band. To the members themselves, though, what's been most exciting has been the reaction they have felt on stage, whether tiny local dates or under the glare of the media. "It seems like everyone can tell how into it we are," says Cockrell. "Every show, people say they can feel how much we love what we're doing."
