Where to begin? Jen Cloher is one of Melbourne’s legends in the country and folk scene. Her first 2 albums very much have one foot in those camps but on her third album, In Blood Memory, she has stretched out into epic rock! There are only 7 tracks but each one is an absolute winner and epic is the key word! Several of the songs build and stretch into 6 minutes of a guitar wall of sound odyssey. Even the shorter songs like the first two singles, Mount Beauty and Toothless Tiger are great by themselves but they make even more sense in the context of this album. A really wonderful album and one of the best of the year thus far!!
