by Matthew E White

White established Spacebomb Records in 2011 with the vision to utilise a regular house band for the label’s recordings. His debut solo album sprung forth in August 2012 (with a global release in January 2013) proving the success of the arrangement. The instrumentation - saxes, strings, clear keys, pattery percussion and gospelly backings - sets the album up for a neat waltz between soul, jazz and indie rock, with driving country moments. Echoed across the channels, White’s chameleon vocals match each musical exploration and marry them so seamlessly.
Think Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, ghost-floating between eras with progressive drive. Here’s a knock out solo debut. Check his previous band works with Fight The Big Bull and The Great White Jenkins.
