Bendigo International Festival of Exploratory Music strutted onto the international music scene in September 2013, winning critical praise from around the world and delivering festival and broadcast audiences a visceral experience. With an emphasis on premiere or rarely-performed long-form works, BIFEM platforms virtuosity in musicianship and innovation in composition.

BIFEM's resident ensemble Argonaut is drawn from a flexible roster of virtuosi from across Australia and from visiting international guests, playing together exclusively in Bendigo.

2018 PROGRAM:
Featuring world premieres and international collaborations, the spectacular 2018 B-I-F-E-M program once again tunes the world into Bendigo for this flagship festival for progressive concert music in Australasia.

Including:

The History of Photography in Sound: an epic 5 and half hour solo piano work by Michael Finnisey performed by the legendary Mark Knoop.

New works from Jenna Lyle, Natasha Anderson and David Chisholm.

Texas percussion trio Line Upon Line in their Australian debut performance.

Plus, Adelaide Symphonic Orchestra perform iconic works from Morton Feldman, Jonathan Harvey and Claude Vivier, in their first ever Victorian appearance.

AND Sound installations, Cushion Concert family friendly sessions and the Festival Club this year at QUEST SCHALLER HOTEL for after drinks and gatherings.

All happening in BENDIGO venues including Capital Theatre, Old Fire Station Engine Room, Bendigo Bank Theatre, Ulumbarra Theatre and La Trobe Art Institute.
