The future of Footscray’s music industry will be discussed by a panel of experts for Being Heard, a Game Changers Conversation part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival, on Wednesday 21 September from 5.30pm at VU at MetroWest in Central Footscray.
Adrian Basso, General Manager of 3PBS Radio, will moderate a dynamic panel discussion to cover everything from running a tour, pitching your ideas, seeking feedback and promotional avenues, and the issues and opportunities related to getting heard in a saturated market.
Joining the panel is Kirsty Rivers, Creative Victoria’s Manager of Contemporary Music, Patrick Donovan, the CEO of Music Victoria, as well as two Footscray locals from the music scene.
Footscray is a rapidly growing suburb; the panel will explore how other areas of Melbourne have approached this kind of growth, gentrification and a growing music scene and the implications for music in the future landscape of Footscray.
The evening will feature performances by Victoria University student bands.
The Game Changers Conversation series presents pivotal ideas, personalities and moments in Australia’s evolving story for public discussion and debate. It is a project of the Footscray University Town initiative - a partnership between Maribyrnong City Council and Victoria University that sees education, jobs, creativity and opportunity at the heart of the future of Footscray.
