Boorloo/Perth based artist Julia Wallace is celebrating the release of their third EP 'Forward', with a special show at The Grace Darling Basement on Friday, August 7. Written after stepping away from the piano and experimenting with new instruments and textures, 'Forward' reflects on falling in love, moving on from love, and searching for home across the country. Julia Wallace joins Lauren Plant on Down By The River for an intimate live performance of their new music.

It’s been seven years since Melbourne band Roller One released their third album, 'Better Than Fine'. A pandemic got in the way of life and art during those intervening years, but the good news for fans of dark alt-country and electric acid folk is that the quartet are back with their new album, 'Fate Done Nice'. Adam and Fergus swing by Radio City for an interview with Crispi about the new album, and to chat about their launch show at The Tote on June 25.

In the lead up to the 50th anniversary of Australian punk band X, the band drops in to The Tote on June 27th to play an exciting show with support from The Maggie Pills and Cat Crawl. Naarm-based duo Myles Mac and DJ Possum unite for Weaver’s first all-night-long duo performance. Known for their deep and eclectic sets across festivals like Pitch and Hopkins Creek, they’re taking over The Night Cat on June 27 for a four-hour masterclass in groove, before they depart for tours across Europe and the US. Ahead of the show, Myles Mac and DJ Possum drop in to The Breakfast Spread for a special guest mix on the Wheels of Steel.

Tune in to Tiger Beats Elephant Grooves as Pradip Sarkar catches up with musician and ethnomusicologist Isobel D'Cruz Barnes. She'll be chatting about a haunting new work that reimagines the myth of the Pontianak. Performed at Northcote Town Hall from June 24 - 28, the show will include visual artist Liang Luscombe, writer–producer Haneen Mahmood Martin, Isobel and five-piece ensemble Hantu, to bring the story to life through shadow puppetry inspired by Malaysian wayang kulit. 

The 11th album 'Terrestrials', from critically acclaimed band Pond is a cyclone of urgent, scorched-earth rock'n'roll. A record of people and place, the new album explores the identity of each, as well as where and how they intersect and interact. Formed in 2010 in Fremantle, Pond is made up of Nicholas Allbrook, Jay Watson, Joseph Ryan, James 'Gin' Ireland, and Jamie Terry. Tune in to Homebrew, as Brooke catches up with Joe and Gin while they're in town.

'Collingwood Children's Farm Winter Bonfire Fundraiser' returns on Saturday, June 27. The night will be centered around a winter solstice bonfire, with live music from Babycino, Immy Owusu, Jarabi Band and Music is the Massage. ‘Afrodelik’ musician Immy Owusu joins Brooke on Homebrew for an acoustic, live in-studio performance, tune in to hear what Immy's been working on since his psych/afro/funk EP ‘Spiritual War’ with Sensible J.

Greg Kubacki is the guitarist and songwriter for Car Bomb. Formed in 2000, the New York mathcore group is heading to Australia in July for two shows in Perth alongside Karnivool and Tesseract. On the show, Ryan will chat with Greg about the band’s philosophy of less is more, and what inspires their music. Tune in to find out what else Car Bomb has in store for the rest of 2026.

On June 25-26 at the Northcote Social Club, Chasing Ghosts will perform their final Naarm shows. Joined by powerful First Nations artists DENNI, Abselom, and Oblivion, the event will also feature the words and presence of storyteller Uncle Kutcha Edwards, along with special guest speakers Celeste Liddle and Senator Lidia Thorpe. The Pearly Shells are launching their latest album 'Hot 5 Live!' at the Kindred Bandroom in Footscray on Saturday, July 4 from 3pm. Recorded Live at the now closed 'Claypots' in St Kilda, the band will be bringing the loose and live vibe to Kindred with their Hot 6-piece band and a stack of special guests, including Paula Maki on saxophone, boogie boogie prince Dan Wass on upright piano and Yoland Ingley ll on vocals. Since 1977, the Port Fairy Folk Festival has grown from humble beginnings into one of the most beloved regional festivals, bringing together extraordinary artists, passionate audiences, families, makers, storytellers, and free spirits from around the world. A four day celebration held by the sea on Peek Whurrong Country every Victorian Labour Day long weekend, the festival will celebrate its 50th year in 2027. Acclaimed South African pianist, composer, healer, and philosopher Nduduzo Makhathini is releasing his new album, 'The Myth We Choose', on June 26. Co-produced by Makhathini and his 18-year-old son Thingo Makhathini, the album explores the awareness needed to create a legacy of love and healing in the present tense, and features special guests including Shabaka Hutchings. At the age of 72, 'Evil' Graham Lee, the pedal steel pioneer and veteran of the Australian band The Triffids, delivers his first ever album under his own name titled ‘I Think I’m Alone Now’. In addition to his work with The Triffids, Graham’s place in ambient history was cemented in 1990 when his evocative pedal steel became the soulful centerpiece of The KLF’s masterpiece, 'Chill Out' (specifically on the highlight "Baltimore to Fair Play"). Fresh off the release of their debut EP 'Sicko', Naarm’s Jeane return to The Tote this July 24, with support from local bands Sonic Reducer and Gloomie. Led by front woman Jazz Johnston, 'Sicko' explores faith, femininity, vulnerability and self-expression through jagged guitars, hook-heavy songwriting and raw, unfiltered storytelling. 'Under The Under' is the new sophomore album from local band Growth. Starting as a reflective space to explore the sorrows and sharp angles that come attendant with a lifelong diagnosis, Growth has found meaningful ways to channel the ugliest and most jarring fragments of the self. Opening for Rivers of Nihil at Max Watt's on August 15, tune in to Tyrannocoreus as Ryan catches up with the band ahead of their show with the US death metal group.

Link McLennan from Bagful of Beez and Ross McLennan from Heir to the Squandered Millions will be stopping by Radio City this week to chat with Crispi about their new singles. Link Meanie - aka Link McLennan - has always been known for his love of pop, even when screaming his guts out in the Meanies, while Ross McLennan is known for his power-pop outfit Snout.
