Featuring members of Dimmu Borgir, Mayhem and Arcturus, Norgwegian industrial symphonic black metallers The Kovenant have recently announced their first Australian Tour. This week on Burning Bitumen Kene catches up with Nagash from the band to learn a little more about how the band came together, and what they have planned for Australia.

Touring for the fourth time in 4 years, US industrial/noise/metal band Health are returning to Australia. This week on Burning Bitumen vocalist Jake Duzsik talks to Kene about their many releases and collaborations, as well as a few insights into this next run of shows.

This morning on Down By The River, Josh drops by to chat about his new album 'Home Is Not A Place'. Recorded in Melbourne with long-time friend and producer Nick Finch (Cash Savage & The Last Drinks, Georgia Knight), the album unfolds across a rich, otherworldly landscape of synth-driven folk songs that explore the shifting terrain of addiction, recovery and grief. While best known for his work in the progressive metal band The Contortionist, Eric Guenther is also a composer/arranger and producer whose work extends beyond the confines of rock music. This week on Game Jams, Matt chats to Eric about the original score for the video game Code Breach, Guenther's first foray into creating game music.

Coming on to the show this morning is Cavs, aka Michael Cavanagh of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. He'll be chatting about the all-new live score he's reimagined for 'Memento', which he'll be performing solo across multiple drum kits and a suite of electronic instruments. Technical and bombastic, Cavanagh’s performance will mirror the intensity and precision at the heart of Nolan's most audacious work. Naarm based artist Maxine Gillon has made a name for herself through her expansive lyricism, accomplished classic songwriting, and distinctive guitar playing. With a sound that draws from 80’s Australiana, folk rock and western twang, catch her playing live in the studio with Jordan on Underground Love this Tuesday, ahead of her full band show at The Gem on August 7.

'Tilt Shift' invites people to dine and plug into Naarm’s electronic music community - broadcast live from the 'Cage' on 'Twitch' every Wednesday from 6pm till late at Revolver. This morning on Mystic Brew, Mike Gurrieri will catch up with Eora/ Sydney based artist Femme Paradox who is on the 'Tilt Shift' line up. Melbourne's own dreamy goth/darkwave act Chiron are returning after a long hiatus with a new album 'A Dark Beauty'. Founded in 1997 by vocalist Michael Aliani (aka Carrodus), after he left popular cult dark wave band Ikon, Michael, Ivan and Dino will join Kristen on Bleeding Black Hearts Revue to discuss the new album. Groovy organ trio Hook Turn, featuring Adrian Whitehead, Daniel Berry and Tim Nikolsky, will be sharing their funky and spacey original music with Tom Sianidis live on Jumpin’ The Blues this week. Named after Naarm/Melbourne's infamous intersection manoeuvre - where you swing left to turn right - Hook Turn takes the indirect route to the pocket, and that's exactly where they live. Tune in from 1.30pm to hear the band perform live on the show.

Tonight on Pojama People, Japanese musicians Mitsuru Tabata (Boredoms, ZENI GEVA, Acid Mothers Temple etc) and Shoji Hano (collaborator with Peter Brötzmann, Derek Bailey, Tetsu Yamauchi, Keiji Haino and in Dare Devil Band with Makoto Kawabata) will be joining Chris Pearson to play some live music on the PBS airwaves. This dynamic duo are in Melbourne for the first time ever, with a show at The Last Chance Rock & Roll Bar on August 2. Tune in to hear these improvisational giants perform live.

On Underground Love today, Jordan is joined by four-piece scuzz rock group from Sydney called Body Type. Their new album 'Tally' was recorded at Velveteen Laboratory Studios in Los Angeles with producer Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint, Courtney Barnett, Kim Gordon) and marks a deliberate evolution for Sophie McComish (vocals and guitar), Annabel Blackman (vocals and guitar), Cecil Coleman (drums) and Georgia Wilkinson-Derums (vocals and bass). Tune in to hear more about their new release.

Local three-piece Dumbhead will be taking their experimental electronica, trip hop and live beat-making to Studio 5 Live on Homebrew this July.  Formed by Maayan Barnatan, Billie Raffety, and Zach Salmon, the group are known for their genre-bending sound, creating bass-heavy music built for late-night movement. Tune in to hear them chat with Brooke about their latest single ‘White Knuckles’, and what they have in store for the rest of this year.

A hard-working artist, Alex is well known across the country and globe as an exploratory musician, and Lyle Chan is a respected composer who is especially known for the ways in which he uses music as a vehicle for storytelling. Join Flight 1067 to Africa this Sunday, as Stani Goma welcomes Ghanaian designer, educator, author and researcher Yaw Ofosu-Asare, who'll share his selection of favourite African artists and songs. Yaw's work spans decolonial design, critical pedagogy and African futures, and he also holds a PhD in Education. Tune in to hear how these themes resonate with the spirit of Flight 1067 to Africa.

Taking influence from Hindustani, Sufi, Afrobeat, and Anatolian rock, Adelaide band Maajela creates a powerful celebration of music through the different melodies, traditions, and rhythms these genres possess. Combining the sounds of the cultures they represent with contemporary, layered, and expressive writing, the band are coming to Melbourne on July 31 for a show at The Evelyn Hotel. In July 1996, as a follow up to their breakout weird-rock classic 'Chocolate & Cheese', Ween released the most unlikely, beautifully unhinged country masterpiece '12 Golden Country Greats'. This weekend on 5ft High and Rising, Weened (a Ween tribute band) will be joining Myles to play a couple of tunes from the Ween album '12 Golden Country Greats’, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
