Local garage-punk five-piece band Delivery will be heading overseas for a massive tour across Europe and the UK this October. To celebrate the tour announcement, members of the band will be joining Milo Eastwood on the show for a round of Musical Chairs, playing a bunch of their favorite tunes, new and old. Extra Lives is an interactive video game band based in Los Angeles. Their concerts are Audience RPG musical experiences: fully narrated, choose-your-own-adventure games where the audiences are the main characters. Ahead of their ANZ tour, band founder and guitarist Michael Kohl chats with Matt on Game Jams about this unique live music experience and what audiences can expect from their shows during Melbourne International Games Week.

Local blues harmonica player and educator Matthew “Whalebone” White has been immersed in the blues for more than 15 years. As one half of Wilson & White, a popular acoustic and electric blues duo known for their authentic juke-joint sound, Matthew performs classic Chicago blues and stomps at venues across Victoria, bringing that same raw feel-for-the-music directly into the workshop room. Locally based visual artist and author Pauline Bailey has got a new book coming out called 'Blues portrait Vol Six'. Recognised for her depictions of music venues, Pauline was awarded the Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society’s Allan Stafford Award for Services to Blues Music. For the second half of Boogie Beat Suite, MzRizk will be joined by Immy Owusu and his father, for a live, acoustic performance. Immy's new single 'Hard People' explores the impact of difficult individuals and the importance of protecting your peace whilst staying true to yourself. Musically dedicated to Immy's Grandfather and the Ghanaian 'Palm Wine Highlife' sound, the distinctive instrument in the track is the Frikywa thumb bell, a type of metal castanet that adds a rhythmic off beat. 

Naarm-based composer Rafet has been quietly releasing deep spiritual music over the last couple of years that he now brings to life with a full live ensemble at Northcote Monastery on October 10th. Ahead of what promises to be an exquisite performance, Rafet drops in for an initimate conversation with MzRizk. Tune in to Boogie Beat Suite from 11am.

The new release ‘Running Around (83)’, is the first release since 2019's 'Untitled', and it welds together engine room doom, disembodied vocals, cryptic lyricism and a smoldering dub-techno bassline, recast and overdriven. Pianist Sonya Lifschitz and composer and multimedia artist Damian Barbeler have collaborated in a new multi-media performance called 'Duet for One', which will be performed at the Melbourne Recital Centre on Saturday, October 3. A work that uses sound and imagery to build connections across time and space, the work also uses the Australian landscape in both real and recorded time. This September 23rd will mark 30 years to the day when Magic Dirt’s acclaimed debut album Friends In Danger was released in Australia back in 1996 To celebrate this significant milestone and to talk about its legacy, we will have none other than honorary guest Adalita Srsen.
