Feature Record for the week beginning Mon 3 Oct 2011
The infectious sing-song sensation, the Dum Dum Girls, are set to release the anticipated LP ‘Only in Dreams’ on Sub Pop through Inertia this September 23rd. The follow-up to their EP ‘He Gets Me High’, released earlier this year, is every bit as dark and wowing as promised – dubbed the gut-punch of emotional impact. ‘Only in Dreams’ is very much coloured by lead singer Dee Dee’s (a.k.a Kristin Gundred) emotional toll, coloured by the touring separation from her husband (Brandon Welchez of noise-pop band Crocodiles) and the passing of her mother – who graced the covers of their self-titled 2009 debut EP and 2010 debut album ‘I Will Be’.
