Anniversary Special!

1958 (60 Years):
3. Link Wray & His Ray Men | Rumble | Rumble! The Best Of Link Wray
- Released in April 1958 and regarded as one of the greatest guitar instrumental songs ever and one of the first to use the power chord!
4. Elvis Presley | Crawfish (With Kitty White) | King Creole
- Apart from King Creole being regarded as one of Elvis' best films, I think this is one of his greatest and most interesting songs. The film was released on July 2nd.
5. Wanda Jackson | Let's Have A Party | Wanda Jackson
- Although this was first recorded by Elvis, it's Wanda Jackson's version from her first album which has become iconic.
6. Little Richard | Good Golly, Miss Molly | Little Richard
- This was released in January 1958 and regarded as one of Little Richard's signature songs.

1968 (50 Years):
7. The Rolling Stones | Street Fighting Man | Beggars Banquet
- Beggars Banquet is regarded as the first of a string of classic albums recorded by the band over the late 60s/early 70s period and this is one of the key songs off it. Released on December 6th.
8. The Beatles | Sexy Sadie | The Beatles (White Album)
- This is one of my favourite Beatles songs ever! I am planning on doing a special on the actual 50th anniversary of the release of this album (Nov 22nd) where I will play covers of all of the tracks off the album in order. Much like I did for Sgt. Peppers last year.
9. The Jimi Hendrix Experience | Crosstown Traffic | Electric Ladyland
- This is arguably Jimi Hendrix's best album although that is probably debatable. Lots of tunes to choose from but it's always hard to go past this one. Released on October 16th.
10. Big Brother & The Holding Company | I Need A Man To Love | Cheap Thrills
- This is one of the best albums that Janis Joplin was associated with. This is one of her few originals on the album too. Released on August 12th.
11. The Band | Chest Fever | Music From Big Pink
- I had to squeeze a song from The Band's debut album on here and I've always loved this one which features a great organ intro by Garth Hudson. Released on July 1st.

1978 (40 Years):
12. AC/DC | Riff Raff | Powerage
- Although Powerage isn't often regarded as one of the band's most renowned albums, it is arguably my favourite and this tune is a ripper! Released on May 5th.
13. The Saints | Know Your Product | Eternally Yours
- The Saints' 2nd album may not necessarily be their best but this tune is way up there among their greatest. The album was released in May. The Aints featuring original Saints member Ed Keupper will be playing at The Community Cup at Victoria Park on June 24th along with Cable Ties, Hiatus Kaioyte and many others.
14. Blondie | 11:59 | Parallel Lines
- Taken from the band's classic third album. This tune, written by keyboard player Jimmy Destri is a fave! Released in September.
15. Kate Bush | James And The Cold Gun | The Kick Inside
- This is an extraordinary debut album from Kate Bush who was only 19 at the time of its release on February 17th. A 40th anniversary tribute to the album is happening at the Corner Hotel on Sunday night featuring Routines, Cynthia Gallie, Lack The Low, Lucy Dwyer and more.

1988 (30 Years):
16. Pixies | Gigantic | Surfer Rosa
- This is Pixies' debut full-length album featuring this great song with bassist Kim Deal on vocals. Recorded by Steve Albini. Released on March 21st.
17. The Go-Betweens | Quiet Heart | 16 Lovers Lane
- This album was the last released by the band before their initial hiatus and this is one of Grant McLennan's finest ballads. Released in August.
18. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds | The Mercy Seat | Tender Prey
- One of the band's greatest epic tracks, taken from their fifth studio album. Released on September 19th.

1993 (25 Years):
19. Smashing Pumpkins | Cherub Rock | Siamese Dream
- This 2nd album from the band is probably regarded as their classic and this tune is one of my favourites off it. Released on July 27th.
20. Nirvana | Pennyroyal Tea | In Utero
- The sound of this album, recorded by Steve Albini was a big departure from Nevermind and alienated many people at the time. It ended up being their last album before Kurt Cobain's death in April 1994. Released on September 21st.
21. PJ Harvey | Rid Of Me | Rid Of Me
- And another album recorded by Steve Albini! PJ's 2nd album is dark and sparse but beautiful in its own way. Released on May 4th.
22. Björk | Big Time Sensuality | Debut
Bjork's debut solo album certainly started one of the most interesting and exciting musical careers. Released on July 5th.

1998 (20 Years):
23. Air | All I Need (With Beth Hirsch) | Moon Safari
- This was the French duo's debut full-length album and proved to be extremely influential towards downtempo electronic music. Released on January 16th.
24. Elliott Smith | Baby Britain | XO
- I had to try and get something from this album on the show. I know many people regard Either/Or as his best album but this is probably my favourite. Released on August 25th.

Closing Theme: Ashley Davies | To Carpentaria - Into The Unknown | The Expedition Burke & Wills
