Artist | Track/Song Name | Album Title | Label/Distributor | Comments

Opening Theme: Eilen Jewell | Radio City | Queen Of The Minor Key

1. Antibalas | Gold Rush | Where The Gods Are In Peace
- Taken from this Brooklyn band's new album, to be released on the Daptone label on Sept 15th.
2. Grace Barbe | Afro-Sega [Tony Allen Remix] | Single
- The original version was originally released on Grace's 2013 album Welele but this version has been re-recorded by Tony Allen with only the vocals remaining from the original.

3. Julie Driscoll, Brian Auger & The Trinity | Indian Rope Man | Streetnoise
- I played a different tune of theirs a couple of weeks ago but have been loving this tune as well. This is from their 1969 album Streetnoise and is a cover of a Richie Havens tune.
4. The Ivory Elephant | In My Pocket | Number 1 Pop Hit
- They will be supporting The Seven Ups at The Evelyn Hotel on Sept 15th with all proceeds on the night going to Oxfam.
5. Lanewaves | Brazen Shah | Twilight Arcade
- Taken from this trio's forthcoming EP to be released on Nov 24th.
6. Los Straitjackets | I Live On A Battlefield | What's So Funny About Peace, Love And Los Straitjackets
- This is taken from this Surf band's tribute album to Nick Lowe, released earlier this year.

As Cam Butler will be joining me on the show today and his album is built around a string section, I thought I'd play a set featuring a few of my favourite string-based tunes.

7. Serge Gainsbourg | Melody | Histoire De Melody Nelson
- If you're not familiar with Serge, this 1971 album is a great place to start. The string arrangements on the album by Jean-Claude Vannier are particularly amazing!
8. Bjork | Bachelorette | Homogenic
- This is from Bjork's 3rd album, from 1997 and this tune has a wonderful string arrangement on it. The film clip for this tune, directed by Michel Gondry, is fantastic as well.
9. The Electric Prunes | General Confessional | Release Of An Oath
- Although this 1968 is credited to The Electric Prunes, it is a David Axelrod album in everything but the name. It's a concept album based around Jewish and Christian liturgies. All of David Axelrod's albums around this period are known for their lavish string arrangements and this is no exception.
10. Cam Butler | Have Mercy | Find Your Love
- Taken from Cam's latest album which features a 14-piece string section, guitars, keyboards, drums and bass. The album launch is happening this Saturday night @ Richmond Theatrette featuring a 10-piece string section within a 15-piece band. Supported by Miles Brown.

Interview With Cam Butler

11. Gold Class | Bully | Drum
- This tune is from Gold Class' recently released 2nd album. They are about to tour Europe but their next Melbourne gig is on Nov 11th @ The Night Cat.
12. Joy Division | Isolation | Closer
- Former Joy Division & New Order bassist Peter Hook will be touring here with his band The Light in October. 3 shows have sold out but the show on Oct 3rd at The Corner Hotel where they will be performing the JD albums Unknown Pleasures and Closer in full, still has tickets available.
13. Beaches | Walk Around | Second Of Spring
- Taken from their 3rd album which is released on Sept 8th.

14. Jade Imagine | Walkin' Around | What The Fuck Was I Thinking
- Jade Imagine are playing a show tonight at the NSC to help raise funds for their trip to Bigsound in Brisbane next month. Support is from Jess Ribeiro, RVG and Closet Straights.
15. Emma Russack | Everybody Cares | Permanent Vacation
- Taken from Emma's latest album which she will be launching as a split album launch with The Ocean Party at the Fitzroy Pinnacle on Sept 16th.
16. Jack Cooper | A Net | Sandgrown
- This is the first solo album from the Ultimate Painting band member and is inspired by his upbringing in Blackpool, England.
17. The Rolling Stones | Winter | Goats Head Soup
- I usually play this song every winter and have left it to the last day! This one of my favourite songs of theirs from one of their more under-rated albums of the period.

18. The Dusty Millers | Molly Dean | The Dusty Millers EP
- This band features family members Lisa, Tracey and Loretta Miller. The EP features a few covers but this tune is an original written by Lisa.
19. Eaten By Dogs | Only You | Anxiety Ain't No Currency
- This is the first single from their forthcoming 2nd album which will be released on Sept 14th and launched on Oct 14th at The Tote. They will also be doing a Studio 5 Live session on Acid Country on Oct 12th.
20. Tex, Don & Charlie | One More For The Song | You Don't Know Lonely
- Taken from their 3rd studio album, released recently. Tex, Don & Charlie are currently in Melbourne. Their shows at Memo Music Hall tonight and tomorrow night are sold out but there are still tickets available for Sunday's show.

Closing Theme: Ashley Davies | To Carpentaria - Into The Unknown | The Expedition Burke & Wills
