1. The Staple Singers | Respect Yourself | Be Altitude: Respect Yourself
- Yvonne Staples passed away on April 10th aged 80. She didn't join as a full-time member until 1970 but was part of the group during their most successful period which included this classic tune.
2. WVR BVBY | Watch The Woodgrain Crawl | WVR BVBY
- This is the debut album from a local jazz-funk group who are the first signing on the Plug Seven record label. The album is released this Saturday on Record Store Day and the album launch is at the NSC on May 27th.
3. Shaolin Afronauts | Sissiko | Follow The Path
- Shaolin Afronauts are playing the Mad Jazz show as part of the Stonnington Jazz Festival at the Astor Theatre on May 15th.This show is the group's own score to Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome which they will be playing while the film is being screened.

4. Perry Botkin Jr. & Barry De Vorzon | The Riot | R.P.M. [Soundtrack]
- This great piece of music is from a 1970 film that I know very little about but I originally heard it on the 1998 Chemical Brothers DJ Mix album, Brothers Gonna Work It Out.
5. Dorsal Fins | Ascension | Single
- This track was originally recorded around the time of their 'Digital Zodiac' album but has just been released now in conjunction with their last gig before an extended hiatus. It's happening at The Curtin on April 27th.
6. Yo La Tengo | Ashes | There's A Riot Going On
- Taken from the band's 15th studio album which was released in March.

7. Public Service Broadcasting | People Will Always Need Coal | Every Valley
- PSB are playing in Melbourne at Howler on May 8th.
8. Jarrow | Dreams | Expensive Hugs
- The Melbourne leg of this album launch is at The Curtin on May 4th.
9. Baptism Of Uzi | Fire Penguin | Stray Currents
- The band are playing a rare gig along with The Ivory Elephant at The B-East on Saturday night.

10. La Bastard | It's Been A Long Time | Trouble
- La Bastard, who are one of my favourite bands have decided to call it a day! They've been big supporters of the show and have performed a PBS Studio 5 Live set as well as playing at the Radio City Tonight event recently. They are playing a big farewell show at The Tote on May 26th with The Sugarcanes + Hana & Jessie-Lee.
11. Rocket Science | Lipstick Red | Single
- This is the latest single from the band and their first new release in 10 years! Their single launch will be at The Curtin on Friday night with The Tiny Giants + Ms. 45.
12. Mod Con | Submit! | Modern Convenience
- This is from the band's terrific debut album, released recently. The album launch is at The Tote on Friday night with Parsnip, The Stroppies & Sweet Whirl Band.
13. Wet Lips | Space Jam | Wet Lips
- Wet Lips present Wetfest 4 which is happening at Howler from 3pm Saturday with heaps of bands including Brooke Powers, Jesswar and of course Wet Lips.

14. Robyn Hitchcock & His LA Squires | Insanely Jealous | Live At The Troubadour
- The songs on the EP were recorded live in May last year and is being released on vinyl as a special Record Store Day release for Saturday.
15. Josienne Clarke & Ben Walker | Bells Ring | Seedlings All
- This is the 4th album from this UK duo who toured Australia recently.

17. The Chills | Warm Waveform | Silver Bullets
- Martin Phillipps from The Chills is playing at the Northcote Social Club on Saturday afternoon with support from Amaya Laucirica.

- This is the first single from the band's forthcoming 4th album. They are playing at Cherry Rock on May 6th and at The Corner Hotel on June 29th.
