CIVIC

Tuesday 8 May 2018

With their inaugural 12” EP release, New Vietnam on Anti-Fade Records, CIVIC’s debut is relentless, dynamic, uncompromising gutter rock at it’s finest.

Formed in Melbourne 2017 by Jim McCullough, Lewis Hodgson, Darcy Grigg, Roland Hlavka and David Forcier, their highly anticipated debut was recorded shortly afterwards by Billy Gardner (Ausmuteants, The Living Eyes) in Geelong.

From the brutal opening of ‘Nuclear Son’ to the incessant riffing of ‘Burning Steel’ CIVIC beat out a perfect mixture of mid 70s gutter rock classicism and hardcore precision, whilst switching up the pace on tracks such as ‘Street Machine Dreams’ and ‘Shackled Man’, with plenty of urban decay romantics, dead boy balladry and modern Australian underground hustle.

Listen back to Mixing Up The Medicine for CIVIC's live set. Studio 5 Live is proudly brought to you by Mountain Goat.
