On the Corner features exciting and innovative contemporary jazz and improvised music from Australia and around the world.
A show that stands on the corner, between many different styles and musical cultures. This is a show that will entertain, inform and hopefully inspire you to listen in ALL directions!
Named after and in the spirit of Miles Davis’ seminal album of the same name, On The Corner is a show that explores current and recent trends in jazz including: the increasing role of electronics in the language of improvisation and the ‘Globalisation’ of jazz. Moving from its origins in the US to becoming a world-wide art form that embraces a plethora of cultural and social influences, all with the common thread of improvisation and spontaneous musical expression.
