Multicultural Arts Victoria (MAV) presents Emerge in Yarra 2018 boasting 9 days of artistic and cross-cultural celebration by emerging artists and communities across the City of Yarra from 22 to 28 July.

In a series of free and ticketed events, the festival presents a multilayered program with an array of artistic expression including experimental theatre, rare and exciting collaborations, film showcase, food & storytelling, live music and spoken word art.

The festivities feature some of Yarra’s iconic venues including, Budd Street gallery, Studio J, Long Play bar, Fitzroy and Collingwood community kitchens, Black Cat gallery, Abbotsford Convent, The Night Cat and Afrohub.

Emerge in Yarra is a celebration of artistic and cultural diversity of Yarra and has grown to encompass talented artists from refugee and emerging communities to promote diverse art forms, new collaborations and commissioned works.

South to South (S2S)

Sunday 22nd July – opening night FREE EVENT
12.30pm – 4.30pm, Atherton Gardens
125 Napier St, Fitzroy
S2S is a free all age’s event, featuring DJs, live music, dance, kids’ activities and soccer matches between community radio hosts, music industry and local artists.
It is a cross – cultural collaboration between Australia and Colombia featuring Cumbia Cosmonauts, ChibCha, Mohair Slim (Bluejuice PBS).

Amin Payne + Hari Sivanesan Ep Launch ‘Sarasvati’

9pm – till late
The Night Cat 137–141 Johnston Street, Fitzroy
Born out of MAV’s ReMastered Myths music program, the unique collaboration between producer/DJ Amin Payne and acclaimed veena artist Hari Sivanesan, deconstructs world music. The night will also feature Bashka, Aarti Jadu and Joshinder Chaggar. Tickets via www.thenightcat.com.au
