After kicking around the Melbourne scene for the last three years, seven-piece Afro-funk combo The Seven Ups have released their debut, self-titled album. Having already released two 7" singles, the album showcases the breadth of the band's sound through 10 tracks of blistering Afrobeat and funk, with hints of soul, jazz and rock.

Co-produced by Tristan Ludowyk (Bombay Royale, Cactus Channel, Public Opinion Afro Orchestra), this album is 10 tracks of old-school gritty-funk, recorded the way it should be.
Career highlights for the band so far have included opening for Charles Bradley (USA), The Budos Band (USA), Babylon Circus (Fra) and Melbourne's own Bamboos, as well as a string of raucous residencies at Melbourne venues and a wild festival sets at Folk, Rhythm & Life Festival and Sydney Road Street Party.

The Seven Ups have a huge launch party coming up at Ding Dong Lounge on March 21. Support on the night comes from Alariiya, Mya Wallace and PBS’ DJ Miss Goldie.
