Chook Race "About Time" (PBS Feature Record)
Melbourne strummers Chook Race try their hands at the long-playing format with their aptly titled debut; About Time.

The long awaited LP for the chimey trio, presents works from as early as 2011 to as recent as 2014 – all recorded on a single summer weekend by Tom Hardisty (NUN, Woollen Kits) and mastered by Mikey Young (Total Control, ECSR). Casually influenced by a library of amateur bedroom favourites, Chook Race play simple, unrefined guitar pop.

About Time inadvertently explores time, place and perspective over three years of change. The first single, hook laden "Dentists" opens the record with a persistent restlessness. In contrast "Good To Me" sings of love through melancholy guitar voicings and boy-girl harmonies, while near instrumental "Clever" plays out as a sprawling jam. Songs are personal, observational, uneasy and often contradictory. It’s About Time.

Kitty, Daisy And Lewis "The Third" (Featured on The Breakfast Spread)

Another fine album from the UK Siblings!

It's been a few years between albums but you can certainly hear a more mature sound with this third record from Kitty, Daisy And Lewis. While they still wear their influences firmly on their sleeve, the sound is a lot more polished and more developed than on their last album, Smoking In Heaven. This is no doubt due to the presence of former Clash member Mick Jones who produced this album and plays guitar on some tracks as well. Although some tracks work better than others, it's the sense of fun on songs like Feeling Of Wonder, It Ain't Your Business and Bitchin' In The Kitchen that is hard to ignore. An early clubhouse leader for one of the top Saturday Night albums for 2015!
