Over two years in the making, I Hope You’ll Be Very Unhappy Without Me contains ten new tracks inspired by seventies blacksploitation soundtracks, sixties Motown and soul jazz. The album includes eight of Chelsea’s original compositions, plus her unique funk arrangement of Neyo’s pop hit Closer and an Esther Phillips tribute, the title track of the album. The album features an incredible list of musicians including Lance Ferguson (The Bamboos) on guitar, Jake Mason on keys (Cookin’ on 3 Burners), Lucas Taranto on bass (Gotye), Ivan ‘Choi’ Khatchoyan on drums (True Live) and Michelle Martinez (The Voice) on backing vocals. The album artwork concept was directed by Chelsea, containing a series of images channeling the looks of three iconic rock-star divorcees; Cher, Priscilla Presley and Studio 54’s darling and ex Rolling Stone wife, Bianca Jagger, who inspired the cover shot. The record will be released on Chelsea’s own label House of Valerie Joan, named after her paternal and maternal grandmothers (respectively) and will be available on vinyl LP, deluxe CD and digitally via Rocket Distribution from August 8.

The album launch party stars Chelsea with her 7-piece band including members of Deep Street Soul, Goodlove and Cookin' on 3 Burners. Expect a disco-soul revue style show complete with costume changes, choreography and percussion plus special guest vocalists Candice Monique and Walter Saluni.
