If ever there was a songbird to take you away from your troubles to a delicious dream that you never wish to stir from, it’s Clare St Clare.

Haunting, sultry and enchanting, her songs are steeped in old world jazz and languid dream pop. She sings of morphine, crying jags, passion and wild girls – and that’s just for starters. She also sings of fast cars, spider bites and why you should never go looking for the blues in New Orleans.

Clare St Clare made her recording debut in 2009 on The Surf and Western Sounds of Mikelangelo and the Tin Star. Since then, she has mesmerized audiences around the world and delighted crowds across Australia at music festivals, theatres and cabaret venues. And now, in 2014, she is set to release her debut solo album with Dare Music Studios.

Tune in to Switched On on Saturday 8 March to hear a very special live performance by Clare St Clare in celebration of International Women’s Day. She’ll be joined by an all-star female cast including Emily Carcacella (Eagle and the Worm) on trombone, Lady Gray (Sugar Fed Leopards) on Drums, Kelly Day and Clare Hendry (The Nymphs) on vocal
harmonies and PBS’s own Emma Peel on piano and organ.

Listen back to Switched On with Emma Peel for a live set from Clare St Clare.
