Newmarket Music is to proud announce the forthcoming release and launch of Live At PBS FM 1981 from the Ted Vining Trio.
This live performance, first released as an LP by Bill Hawtin of Jazznote Records, was recorded at former PBS studios at the Prince Of Wales Hotel in St.Kilda, featuring Barry Buckley on bass, Bob Sedergreen on piano, Ted Vining on drums and special guest Alan Lee on congas and percussion.
There is something undeniably special about live recordings, as is the case with this release that presents the Trio at their furious, grooving best. Live At PBS FM 1981 is a very ‘live’ and rowdy performance, oozing with energy and dynamic, capturing the spontaneity and intuition the group is known for as well as the personalities and calibre of musicianship involved.
Australian jazz identity Ted Vining has enjoyed an illustrious career for some 43 years, beginning in 1969 with the formation of the Ted Vining Trio with pianist Bob Sedergreen and bassist Barry Buckley. The Trio released their first album ‘Number 1’ in 1977 and performed as three quarters of the Brian Brown Quartet throughout the seventies.
By popular demand, Newmarket Music has produced a CD of the sellout Jazznote LP The Ted Vining Trio Live at PBS FM - recorded in December of 1981.
To celebrate the occasion there will be a Concert/CD Release in the Barn Gallery - in memory of the Trio's great bassist, Barry Buckley.
