Since the birth of jazz 100 years ago, it has evolved in America to reflect that country’s culture. But jazz also moved out from America to become the globalized music we know and love. Whilst American jazz is considered by some to be the pre-eminent form of the genre, jazz that has grown in other countries challenging that belief, reflecting myriad unique cultural influences. Australia is one such country.

Impressions presents recently released jazz, from the wealth of fantastic modern, contemporary jazz performed by Australian musicians. Every week great new records are released and Impressions brings the best of the bunch to you. Believing that jazz is best heard live, Impressions plays music to highlight the pick of the coming week’s events in Melbourne and keeps you posted with the coolest gigs in town.
