Time:  20:00 - 22:00
Announcer:  Phil Macdougall
Sunglasses After Dark

Your name:
Phil MacDougall

Your program:
Sunglasses After Dark

Give us a brief history of the music and genre you play on your show.
PUNK, hardcore, rockabilly/ garage, plus lots of new releases from overseas and Australia each week. Interviews with overseas and Australian bands plus all the best new records out each week.

Describe your program (What sort of music do you play? Are interviews an integral part of your show? Do you have any special weekly/monthly segments or regular acts and labels that you play? Etc)
I play lots of punk from 1976 right up to now, everything from The Cramps to Turbonegro to Ministry to mach pelican to motorhead . You will hear punk, hardcore, rockabilly, industrial and metal on the show. Do interviews from week to week and if a band is touring Australia for the first time i will usually do a 1 hour special plus an interview with the band, as in Misfits, Mc5, Turbonegro etc ....

How long have you been doing your program and why do you do a show on PBS?
I've been doing my show for 29 years, to play new bands on the radio and expose listeners to new music within my genre. Its great to be a part of a commmunity radio station that plays underepresented music and is not governed by corporate interests.

Do you know the date you started and how many shows you have done?
My first radio show was on the 10th september 1980 from 12.00-2.00am. About 1450 radio shows!

Why did you start doing your program/why did you apply to do a program on PBS?
To play underground bands on the radio that would not get played on commercial radio .

Why is community radio and PBS important to you?
Without PBS lots of music that other radio stations wont play would not be heard on melbourne radio. Its a family of like minded people who are dedicated to presenting specialist music that they like on the radio .

Who are your favourite bands?
The Cramps, The Gun Club, Ramones, The Stooges, MC5, New York Dolls, The Velvet Underground, Birthday Party, Turbonegro , Cosmic Psychos , Motorhead , Ministry , Sex Pistols , The Clash, Damned, Buzzcocks, Southern Culture on the Skids , Six ft Hick , Misfits , Melvins , Foetus , Mach Pelican, Radio Birdman, The Saints, Johnny Casino & the Secrets, Reverand Horton Heat, Monster Magnet, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band, Joy Division, Grinderman, Eddy Current Supression Ring, James Brown, Tom Waits, Johnny Cash. Suicide, Black Flag, Gallows, Dirtbombs, The Fall, Kraftwerk, King Khan & The Shrines, Rammstein, Lydia Lunch, etc
